Margrethe Vestager

Former EU Executive Vice President and Commissioner

Margarethe Vestager was Executive Vice-President for A Europe Fit for the Digital Age and Competition in the European Commission from 2019 to 2024. There, she co-led on a strategy on small and medium-sized businesses and start-ups and a long-term strategy for the EU’s industrial future, including competition aspects. Prior to that, she was Commissioner for Competition (2014-2019). Before joining the European Commission, she was the Danish Minister for Economic Affairs and the Interior (2011-2014) and Minister of Education (2000-2001).
